Build Your Own Movie and Get Juicy Points

I have built several movies of my screen to show how to do tasks. People ask, "How do you do this?" The answer is very easy. Get yourself a cool tool and get busy!
First step: Create the Movie.
Download Camstudio. It is free, easy to use, and very cool. You can download it from http://camstudio.org/
Get version two. I installed it in a SVS layer. That helps me enable it when I need it and hide it when I don't.
Now you can easily create movies with Camstudio's many features. There is even a feature that can enhance your voice if you don't like your own.
Second Step: Edit the Movie
There is a very cool tool for this and most of us have it already installed.
It is called Microsoft movie maker. It is standard in Windows XP and Vista, and it is easy to use.
Import you movie, use split to cut in the movie. Use overlay's to paste the movies, and you can even add subtitles.
Almost Done...
Then go to http://blip.tv and prepare to upload your movie. Create an account and upload your movies.
Then the Final Step
Share them with us. Share them on the Juice and teach other people how you do things.
And the best of all? All accepted movies get 10 points for each minute they last.

if you need to convert your movie to another format (like FLV for streaming) you can use the "free video converter 1.3":

Good tip.
I upload my video's to blip.tv, and there the movies are converted in FLV format automatically. By downloading it back then, i get my flv version.

Also...
Sony makes a really nice product called Video Vegas, really powerful editing tool. Might want to look into it if you have the opportunity.

That's interesting, never heard of video Vegas, I'll take a look into this one. I've used Camtasia for years and created many streaming video demos it works great. How does it compare to Camtasia?
Vegas vs Camtasia
Camtasia is a capture software, it is really awesome for pulling whatever you have on your screen (IE videos on the screen and what not) and making it into a video.
Vegas (as far as I know) doesnt have that ability. But if you are looking for a product that will take that video and do almost anything you want to it (strip sound, chop it up and mix other vids with it, zoom, almost anything and everything) than for my bet its Vegas, and it also has a 30 day trial and you can just keep downloading it.
When and if something were to come up where I needed to get something offline, then I would camtasia it and then video vegas it, to do all the edits that I would need.

Converting video online
For a quick and easy way to convert videos between any format , there is the MUX website.
MUX is a online service , no installation needed, only open a web page and that's it.
Load a wmv, mov, avi format file and convert to a many other format files (iPhone / iPod, Windows Media, Divx, MP4, Quicktime, Flash, PSP, Windows Media, Ogg, 3GGP, etc.)

The best video and audio conversion tool is Super, it's a free Windows program that will convert from just about any format to any other format and it's insanely fast for what it does.
Great article, but...
I really like how you explained everything quickly in this article. I think you should have mentioned some other sources to upload video, though, as sometimes that site has been buggy for me. I would include sites like YouTube and you could even upload it to a hosting service such as MediaFire so that people could download it for later.

I only described the option i use.
There are many other options. Instead of using camtasia you can use snagit. There are several very good way's to add comments, voices, subtitles and others to the movies.
The best thing of the juice is the freely way how people can add stuff to it in posts, so the articles get even better.

Snag IT generates huge files
SnagIT produce uncompressed AVI files, where as Camtasia produces compressed (almost 1/10th of Snagit) Not every one may have the Codex to view the compressed stuff of camtasia. You need to distribute the decompressor along with the AVI files.

You dont actually have to distribute the decopmpressor with it. you can render it after you have made your .camrec (compressed file mentioned) to a few different types of files which include mpg, and avi if I'm not mistaken.
Another Option
Instead of Camtasia or SnagIt, you may also want to check out Ignite. It's a very useful tool that allows you to fully customize the user experience, including interactive mouse clicks and quiz reviews.
Alternative
A nice (and fast) alternative to MS Movie Editor, is VitualDub. http://www.virtualdub.org/
I use snag it for creating
I use snag it for creating the videos, then encode the video to a FLV and publish on our company intranet.
You can use the divx codec to increase the compression ratio and place the videos on a network share. I believe windows MP will automatically download the divx codec by default.
