NS Startup Error: [Re-Configure]

NS Startup Error: [Re-Configure]

I recently has this error when I logged onto the NS box and opened the NS console. To my surprise I wasn't greeted with the normal NS console, but instead I was faced with this:

The way I resolved this error was either to restart all the services related to the Notification Server or do a repair on the SQL database. If restarting the services didn't do the job for me, then a repair would normally do the trick.

I would like to hear from anyone who has also experienced this error and ways they resolved the problem.

We ran into this same error

We ran into this same error last week. After restarting the altiris service on the NS, we were able to walk through the repair process to start to go through the initial setup screen for the NS Setup. This process never completed though and further investigation into the log errors let me to the fact that the event queues were over their limit and the NS was overloaded trying to process the event queue files while running through the repair process. We ended up deleting the files in the event queue fast folder and restarting the server. Upon successful reboot, the server started responding and processing the event queue files successfully. The console performance was also much better than prior to the initial error. We are running NS6.0.6074 SP3. I also noticed one reference in the log viewer that was eerily similar to another post in the altiris KB relating to a locked registry key. Not sure if this is really anything related, but after checking the SQL database logs, Windows event logs, and NS logs, I could not find anything else that pointed me in the right direction as to the root cause of the problem.
