If you plan on installing Vista Service Pack 1 when it is released (highly recommended), you might want to run the cleanup command afterward.
To do this, open the run dialog (Win-R) and type "vsp1cln.exe" (without quotes) and press enter.
This will remove the ability to uninstall the service pack (so make sure to test everything before running the cleanup), and it will cleanup 1GB worth of data off of your hard drive.

Vista SP1 highly recommended?
Vista service pack 1 is highly recommended, but please remind one of the (microsoft say's) minor issues is that after installing sp1 you need to update you're drivers by going to update.microsoft.com.
i saw several upgrades were the first download you need to do is the driver of the network card.
But if the network card is not installed, you will not be able to go to update.microsoft.com.
So in my opinion?
First check if there is a driver available after service pack 1 for you're nic.
One of the benefits of a not working network card is that finally you're pc is completely safe for viruses etc.

Vista SP1 RC
I installed vista sp1 RC and vsp1cln.exe from Run dialog doesn't work. Tried it from cmd line as well in C:\windows\system32
Did they not inlcude it with the release candidate (beta)?
vsp1cln.exe
vsp1cln.exe is not included in the release candidate. It is only available in the rtg version that is released after the rc version.
Now sp1 is available to microsoft partners. The download is 1,29GB.

Holy Cow!
A 1.2GB service pack?!?! That crazy.
I feel like yelling: 1.21 JIGAWATTS!!!
1.2 gb service pack
And after deploying the service pack, you get about 15 till 20 additionel updates.
So it is not complete also.
