Another situation I'm faced with is how to configure virtual Execl 2007 to always save in Excel 2003 format. I'm asked if this is done at the point of capture and in that case is Global capture needed to achieve that. Or, is it better to change a registry entry afterwards?
The Trick
Both options should work, but the reg entry gets my vote for elegance.
I did a quick test and found the culprit. Import this Reg entry to the ReadOnly layer, do a reset and you're done.
[HKEY_USERS\USER_TEMPLATE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options] "DefaultFormat"=dword:00000038
Give it a try. It worked on my virtual Office 2007.

xlsx
So would this work for Word, powerpoint and all other 2007 formats. it would be good to get rid of the *.x format?
