SnagIt lets you capture, edit, and share exactly what you see on your screen. Snag-It is a great screen capturing utility to use for documentation or capturing those various error messages when working with Altiris.

Thanks for the tip tech9!
I like to use Printkey 2000 for capturing screen images. It's not as robust as Snagit, but 99% of the time does what I need.

CamStudio
Although Snagit is very powerful, I also use CamStudio for captures that dont need much work on them afterwards.
The best thing about CamStudio is that it is Freeware. :-)

As I see the CamStudio and Printkey 2000 are both interesting products, freeware and produce the first AVI files and the second one image files.

Snag-It
I realize that this is not free software, but it's worth the price if you edit a lot of your images.

and snag-it captures both images and video.
Windows has this built in

You gotta be kidding...
Have you looked at SnagIt!? I use a six year old version (5.2.1) and even it does a ton of stuff beyond prt sc/alt-prtsc. Massive value add; just take a brief look at this. SnagIt! is one of my favorite pieces of software ever, and is essential for my job. Plus they use Wise for their installation! :)
also my favorite
SnagIt is also my favorite,
but sometime i use Screenshot Captor or Hardcopy

Thanks for this
Thanks for this clarification, when I use the classic way (Windows Print Screen) I see the limit in resizing images. SnagIt is a nice easy tool and also no cost.

SnagIt is worth his money
But there are a lot of free alternatives if don't need all that functionality.

Hi Sheetal,
produce a good documentation is sometimes easy and also difficult. Easy because you can write many pages full of istructions and processes. Difficult beacuse when you have finished maybe few people really want to read your docs.
When I write a documentation procedure, I personally prefer to add some screenshot and picture about important things, in this way the final result is a document that can be ready easily from other people.
For this reason these tools can be helpful for people involved in create documentation.

Yes riva11, i agree with
Yes riva11,
i agree with you... creating a document is easy as well difficult job.
And a good document should have self illustrating snapshots.
Thanks Riva11 :-)
Your reply has cleared my concepts about documentation.Documentation becomes really effective when snapshots are effective.

Guess what..
I don't use any of those programs.
I use: Print-Scrn and ALT+Print-Scrn
Both keys are default in Windows and no need to install any software with features I will never use.
If you think about it, then you'll agree you won't use all those features, and if you use them, how often? (A lot I know, but the program is new to you, on the long run you won't use them)
My opinion is to keep it to a bare minimum and have the fuctionality I want, at the same time I don't have to install software or aquire any licenses.
Kind Regards, FrankB
No Printer...
I have just created a VSA of SnagIt 7.2.5, but when I imported it into a different machine its Printer was not crteated.
Any ideas as to what I must modify in the VSA to have it created?
Try these toos too for screen capture
If you just need screen shots then try with Quick and easy screen capture program from www.howiesfunware.com. It directly saves the images in several formats. It’s a free ware !
If you need a video clip then try camtasia from the makers of SnagIT at http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp. Its NOT FREE ! But it creates excellent clips with very good and easy tool to edit and trim your videos. Caution: If you are distributing the clip in AVI format, then you may have to include their proprietary TSCC Codec. But it gives very small foot print with excellent image quality.
