This year at ManageFusion Orlando, Symantec is offering updated core SVS/SVS Pro content, plus some new stuff from the product group now known as "Endpoint Virtualization"! There will be break-out sessions from Symantec experts, hands-on labs, alliance partner sessions and customer case studies -- from beginner level to advanced!

In this new video from Intel, students, faculty and IT staffers at Houston's St. Agnes Academy talk about how they're leveraging application virtualization and streaming as an enabling technology. SVS Pro (which includes the AppStream technology recently acquired by Symantec) helps teachers focus on teaching and students focus on learning.

Successful implementation of application virtualization starts with good repackaging. In this lab, you will learn how to create and customize optimal, easily-managed Virtual Software Packages with SVS Admin and Wise Package Studio Professional's SetupCapture and Virtual Package Editor tools. Includes coverage of the SVS events system.

Brian Duckering, AppStream Sr. Director of Products and Alliances, and Scot Curry, Symantec Sr. Systems Engineer presented this lab demonstrates the various rules that can be applied to applications, users and groups in order to simplify and automate application delivery, license management and license optimization. This lab also explores the three different types of application packages that can be streamed and their different behaviors. Exercises include uploading packages, setting rules, and exploration of desired results.

In this morning's ManageFusion keynote, Symantec Chief Operating Officer Enrique Salem announced that Symantec has signed a definitive agreement to acquire industry-leading application streaming vendor AppStream. AppStream has been providing the streaming component of Symantec's SVS Professional since June, 2007.

Brian Duckering, Sr. Director of Products and Alliances at AppStream, talks about the changes in the AppStream/Altiris partnership since last year's ManageFusion. AppStream provides the integrated streaming engine that now ships with SVS Professional.
