Deployment server has some great options for automating process. However many of those options can go unused for awhile simply because you are not exactly sure of how your organization would use those abilities granted by Deployment server. Recently at our organization we went through a close review of options to streamline the new equipment process. Here are some details for how we proceeded.

A common question we hear is how to use Out of Band Management Solution with the Intel SCS Component for Provisioning in a multiple Notification Server Environment. This document provides a method to accomplish this. As there is no automated process this document covers the steps necessary to achieve this, but also offers some cautions on environmental situations that may introduce a problem into this setup.

EnumAltirisTree.vbs contains the code for the AltirisTree class. EnumAltirisTree.vbs can be copied and pasted to your own VBScript, or included as a library in your WSF file. You can then easily create an AltirisTree object to enumerate the Altiris DS "Group" tree hierarchy under "All Computers".

Now that you have installed HII Tools 3.2 and are using the "Collect Drivers" job as well as the "Manual Add Drivers" method to populate your driver library, you probably will want to know how to maintain your library. I am working on a console add-on similar to my HII Job Wizard that will help you perform Driver Library Maintenance tasks. In the meantime, this document will explain how to do each of the maintenance tasks manually. If you think of any Driver Library Maintenance procedure that you would like that is not in this document, make a comment describing what you would like.

What if you wanted to take your Local Security Solution (LSS) data, and use Inventory Forwarding to move the data to a destination Notification Server? If you did this, you could have a backup of your managed passwords and have those passwords accessible on the destination server too. You can pull this of with Inventory Forwarding. The overrides tab can be the do-all for tailoring your Inventory Reporting. Specifically you can change how a file or set of files are represented in the database, thus providing you with exactly the kind of information you want to see in your reports. The following questions can be answered within this article:

  1. Inventory Solution isn't capturing a file I want to capture. How can I configure Inventory Solution to capture this file?
  2. How can I view and manipulate how the Inventory Solution for Windows audit scan sees and uses File Header information?
