I have seen in my personal experience that most companies still today go about the hard and difficult way in migrating user data from the old machine to the new machine. Some technicians will ask the user where all his files and folders are that needs to be migrated or copied across to his new computer, which is always a problem as the user can't always remember where he has saved all his work or important documents. Which always results in loss of data and an upset user.

Altiris PC Transplant Solution version 6.8 provides customers with the ability to transfer data, applications, and applications settings from one computer to another using a variety of methods. One of the lesser used features is the ability to use a crossover cable to transfer profiles. This document demonstrates one example of how this can be accomplished.
