Altiris and Intel vPro Use Cases, Part 4: Auditing and Software Remediation
NOTE: If you have not read parts 1 through 3, please read these before reading this part as this is a continuation of the story begun in the previous sections.
Security is only as tight as the weakest link in your environment. More often than not it's internally where the security holes are created, either inadvertently from carelessness or intentionally from a disgruntled or disillusioned employee. The hardware and software security can be top of the line, but if the human factor doesn't adhere to policy, it may not make any difference. This part follows the IT team for Mighty Modern Marketing as they try to track down a security hole where productivity is taken down through the very tools used to defend and manage the network.

Monitoring Completion Status of RS Integrity Check or SSM jobs
Do you ever look at your Recovery Solution job queue and wonder "I wonder how far along that Integrity Check/SSM job is?" Well I did, and was very frustrated since there wasn't a good way I had found to monitor the progress. In Search of CPUs and Cores
Who among you has ever looked at the CPU information that the Altiris hardware inventory gathers and said "That's not what I need. I need to know how many physical CPUs are there, or how many cores there are, or whether this is a hyper threading CPU, etc."

Recovery Solution Critical Event Sets... What You Hope Doesn't Happen
This is another posting in regards to the articles I've done for Recovery Solution (RS) in the past based around the events which may occur that get written to the application event log.
Recovery Solution Critical Events Report... In Case You Miss Something
Hot on the heels of my previous post regarding the Recovery Solution (RS) Events list, is this one.
The attached .XML file is an Altiris NS report that will report back any critical RS Event that may have occurred within the last day of activity.
Recovery Solution Events List (A work in progress...)
I've been working on updating the list I originally drafted to help list out the various events and associated data that could occur within an RS environment (6.2 SP2).
