Customizing Invoices and a Custom Report

Anyone else not generate invoices...well I don't either. However, we still use the invoice portion!

The out of the box Invoice Page and Edit Page were not working for us...so, needless to say, I added some customizations to liven it up! I added a Custom Invoice Information section, which included the following:

  • Company - direct drop down association to the Company data class.
  • Received Date - date we received the invoice, since the invoice data and our received dates are always different
  • Invoice Amount - the amount of the invoice, which assists us on a birds eye view of how much we are spending per invoice and monthly with specific Companies.

    We do not use the Line Items and the Total Cost since we are not issuing the invoice

  • Notes - any additional information that may be helpful to the Contract Managers and the Accounting Team

I then created a custom report which the Contract Managers soon made as their Invoice Home Page they liked it so much! (See attached report.)

Once I completed the customizations on the Invoice page and the custom report for them, I created a reverse association from the Purchase Order to the Invoice, which allowed the Contract Managers to associate Invoices received to their Purchase Orders created. This also really helps accounting determine what Purchase Orders have been paid and what Purchase Orders have not.
