AltirisNSCABInstaller.exe - A Very Cool Utility
Do you hate, when launching the Altiris console for the first time, that you have to install those CAB files?
Well, Altiris has provided a neat little utility to install those CAB files for you.
I found this information on the Altiris Forums and I thought it would be something really good to post here as well.
The file is called AltirisNSCABInstaller.exe. It is located in the NSCap share under Bin\Win32\X86\NS CAB Installer Package.
All you have to do it run this file and it installs those cab files for you.
I ran a test on two freshly imaged machines. I installed this on only one. On that machine I didn't get prompted to install the CABs, whereas on the other one I did.
This has now become part of my deployment process. I simply created a DS job and pointed it at that file.
This is not a completely silent install so if you don't want end users stopping the installation, I suggest running it after hours.

Thanks...
This is just what I have been looking for. Thanks for posting this valuable information.
Excellent tip! Installing
Excellent tip! Installing the cabs was fairly annoying, but I thought it was bearable. Oh well, in with the new out with the old.
Using through AD
If you are not setup to use Deployment Console, you can turn the .EXE into an .MSI and use AD to deploy it to any pc that is joined to your domain.
Software Portal Included
Did you know that the Software Portal ActiveX is also included in this CAB file? If you want to roll out the Software Portal to all users, especially when those users do not have rights to install ActiveX controls, use this file.
Internet Explorer 7
Has anyone used this with Internet Explorer 7? It seems the SWD task is successful regardless of version, but when I try to access the portal for the first time from a workstation with Internet Explorer 7 I am still prompted for ActiveX control installations.
