Find What You Need in the Juice Cellar

It seems like the more great information we get on the Juice, the harder it is to find anything.

That's why we came up with the "Juice Cellar". It's where we keep the best Juice published since the beginning of time.

We've added a link to the Juice Cellar at the top of each of our pages.

Here's how to find the perfect vintage:

  • When you first enter the Cellar, you'll see a list of the 25 newest additions to the Juice.
  • To see the next 25 entries, simply click the numbered navigation at the top (or bottom) of the list.
  • The list is sorted by date, by default, so the newest additions sit atop the list.
  • You can re-sort the list by clicking the "Title", "Date", or "Type" headings.
  • Clicking a second time on a heading reverses the sort order (from ascending to descending [or from decending to ascending]).
  • Using the drop-down selectors at the top of the Cellar page, you can filter the list by product or by topic, or by both product and topic.

We hope this helps you find more of those hidden gems that may have been published a month (or more) in the past.

Welcome to the Juice

Excellent!

This is just what I had in mind. Very useful. As we said in the Navy, "Bravo Zulu"!

Now true Nirvana would be to have search results come up with the same sortable/filterable display as the Juice Cellar... ! :)

Never satisfied, but always appreciative,
Scott J.

Juice Cellar

This is great, thank you for it.

However, I think, we have so many good tools here on Juice. (Many older pearls are to be found only heavy.)

A download Portal would be nice only for tools, with categories, to Vote and pictures.

Bookmarks?

trb48's picture

One thing that could be really cool is an on-site bookmark system. On each tool, article, tip, etc. there could be a button to add the resource to your personal juice bookmarks. That way we could start our own little KB. And of course, we could share our bookmarks with others...

RE: Bookmarks

Hi trb48,

I do this with ScrapBook, that is a Firefox extension.

Save Web pages and manage the collection.

* Save Web page
* Save snippet of Web page
* Save Web site (In-depth Capture)
* Organize the collection in the same way as Bookmarks
* Highlighter, Eraser and various page editing features
* Full text search and quick filtering search
* Text edit feature resembling Opera's Notes

So you have own little KB.

Frank

I approve your idea trb48

I approve your idea trb48. Usually when I find something interesting I print using the "printer friendly" function a PDF file and store on my data folder.

It should be really useful to create a bookmark in a own Juice personal bookmark, just to have a online storage for these posts.

Voting and Highest Rated Content

Screenbert's picture

A while back juice was modified so that you could only vote 5 times a day. However on busy days there are more than 5 articles sometimes. What about reducing the point value to .25 and allow 10 votes again?

Also I noticed a change to the highest rated content. Good update. Should there by a minimum of 5 or 10 votes before it appears?

Thanks!

I like your ideas screenbert.

- Allow 10 votes a day instead of 5 to account for the increase in Juice submissions.

- Change the value of a vote to .25 of a point. This may also help discourage those "drive by" voters (you know who you are) who come to the Juice, cast random votes, and leave.

- Only list a piece in the "Highest Rated Content" area after it's received at least 5 or 10 votes.

Dissenting views anyone?

I don't know if it's been

I don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere but you really need a way to move out old content from the highest rated section. With only a 1-5 to vote on and most people giving things a 4 or 5 there's going to a time were everything is going to have the same score up there and you'll just end up at the same place you where with the old system where that content never changes.

Highest Rated content of the month/year whatever

Screenbert's picture

How about highest rated content of the day/month/year?

It would be great if you could select any of the three.

More Votes:

trb48's picture

I think that a piece should receive more votes than 5 or 10 to make its way into the "Highest Rated Content" area. I think that it should be something like 20 or 30 votes to make it in. Why? Almost everything gets voted on, and it would be really easy to get into the "Highest Rated Content" area.

If you make it harder to get into, it will be a more useful tool. We will know that if we see an article in the "Highest Rated Content" area, we know that others have really looked at it and that it has good content.

More on voting

Screenbert's picture

Maybe to discourage drive by voters, make them wait 5 minutes in between votes.

Screenbert

Top15/20?

I don't know if this has been suggested earlier, but how about a Top 15/20 (or more) item list of Highest Rated content based on total no. of votes?

A good additional feature

A good additional feature could be for printer friendly in PDF format file (similar to the function available on Joomla CMS).

HP DX 2300 imaging woes

I have some HP DX2300 systems with an Intel card that I can not image using pxe and picking the intel card. They will boot as dos managed and image one system at a time. Thankfully I only have 70 of them but it sure is not making my life easier with this problem.
