Internet Explorer 7 'screwed into' Windows XP SP3

With the recent release of Windows XP SP3, many home users might have begun the upgrade process. However, I'm betting that a majority of IT shops are holding off and doing some testing. I came across this interesting bit of info and thought it might help some people make the upgrade decision.
From the MSDN blog of Jane Maliouta:
"If you are currently running IE7 on XPSP2, Windows Update will offer you XPSP3 as a high priority update. If you choose to install XPSP3, Internet Explorer 7 will remain on your system after the install is complete. Your preferences will be retained. However, you will no longer be able to uninstall IE7. If you go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, the Remove option will be grayed out."
The rest of the story can be found here. Basically this is stating that IE7 is locked down into SP3 with no option for uninstalling it. This might be great news for some but for my company this makes the decision for us, we have apps in use in some areas that do not support IE7.

Uninstall Internet Explorer 7 after XP SP3
As described in the MSDN blog :
Keeping this in mind, you might want to uninstall IE7, upgrade to XPSP3 and then install IE7 again so you can uninstall IE7 in the future if need be.
The IE8 Beta 1 seems to be different and after the SP3 upgrade , the IE will mantain the uninstall option, but for the other side
