Altiris Chat on ChatZilla

Altiris Chat on ChatZilla

Ever been posting in a forum or searching for that one little thing that you just can't seem to figure out? I've been in that same boat and my least favorite thing is waiting for someone to answer a forum post that has been open for 'n' days.

There is a small solution for this. There is a small community on IRC that has a room for Altiris. You can ask your questions, get your answers, then post that in the forum of your choice. This article will show you how to get there using ChatZilla. A feature available for free for Firefox. We currently use it for giving each other a hand and asking the same questions you would anywhere else.

Here's how:

Install ChatZilla

  1. Go here:Foxfire Addons
  2. Click "Install Now":
  3. Restart Firefox:

Now that you have installed ChatZilla, I will show you how to get to the channel and change your nickname so that you can be unique.

  1. When Firefox restarts, go to Tools > ChatZilla.
  2. Click "freenode":
  3. Type "/join #altiris" (you can do a /list, but there are over 4000 channels, so use with caution):
  4. Change your nickname:

  5. Enjoy :)

Due to this post and will be hanging out on it. I spend a lot of time on IRC due to the entire Ubuntu community being on it.

But what about those of us who use IE?

And why not use the chat built into the Juice site itself?

For those who use IE

For those who use IE i have a very good secret for you.
On the Juice there is a little tool called SVS. Download it, install it, and get surprised.
Then search for firefox 3.0.
Our friend Scott Jones posted it.
Download it, import it, and you have the full rich experience of firefox.
And best of all:
It is totally Free for home and personal use
