svscmd activate
Submitted by mqh7 on 7 October, 2008 - 11:52.
I packaged an application and then saved it onto a server.
I then ran this command to import it:
svscmd I -P "W:\apps\TrialWorks\SVS\Compiled Pkg\Trialworks13.vsa" -F
It imported successfully.
I now want to Activate this using the svscmd command.
1. Where was it imported too?
2. How do I find the guid or package name?
Also, how do you import and active packages remotely? I want to be able to do this from my workstation...where I can install virtual apps on any workstation I want....provided they have the needed SVS service running.
Thanks.

The package will be
The package will be imported to a hidden directory on the PC. By default it is C:\fslrdr but you don't really need to know this.
To activate the package you only need to know the layer name. There are a couple of ways you can find this out if you don't know it.
1) run svscmd ENUM from a command prompt. This will list all the layers on the PC.
2) If you created your vsa from a wvp file then you can open the wvp file with a text editor and find the layer name in there. Just do a search for "layername"
Once you have the layer name activating is easy:
svscmd layername A
Normally to do this remotely you would use a deployment tool.

We have build a remote console for svs layers.
