Ratio of # of licenses to workers

Question – We will begin using the Altiris Helpdesk Solution in the 4th quarter and would like some advice on the ratio of number of licenses to number of workers. We currently have 10 licenses and 82 workers. We are considering purchasing additional licenses. Any recommendations?

Hi Allison,

Altiris works kinda different when it comes to HD licenses.
A license is considered consumed/used only when a worker is in Edit mode. That means the only time a license being used is when a worker is creating an incident. Viewing incidents does not need a license.
The qualifier in your environment will be how many workers anticipated to create incidents all @ the same time. That will give you the number needed for licenses.
