Unable to find the correct protocol.ini
I'm following the directions in Symantic article 17832 entitled "Slow image uploading but fast downloading". The article basically says that the speed and duplex of the NIC need to be stated in the protocol.ini file to improve network performance. Okay, that makes sense, but I can't find a protocol.ini that relates to my drivers, and the ones I can find don't appear to be in use according to filemon.exe when I PXE boot the server to capture or deploy images.
I'm using Deployment Console 6.9 build 177 and booting to WinPE using a Broadcom NIC in a Dell Powerdge 2950. I can deploy images in under 10 minutes, but image capture takes about 12 hours to complete.
I talked to Altiris support who pointed me to the above article, but the tech was at a loss as to which protocol.ini was supposed to be used. There are many protocol.ini files on the server, mostly in the DOS drivers folders for each NIC. In the PXE Config utility, there doesn't appear to be any settings for MenuOption162 that relate to this .ini file.
Any ideas? Or am I going down the wrong path to fix the slow image capture problem?
