Deployment Solution without Notification Server (Using VBS/C# on ASDK 1.4)

Yes you can. Deployment Solution can be installed as a stand alone product. Within the download section of the Altiris website, you can download Deployment solution as either a stand alone product or an integrated part of Notification server.

Hi Pikoshi, if I think of using webservice methods.. then do I need to install NS? or will DS provide those..... I am new to all of these... If u provide any helpful links to follow I can go through.. tnxs

YKV, there is a webconsole included with the standalone version, you just have to install it from the installer. Documentation can be found at http://altiris.com/upload/deployment_004.pdf or here on the Juice.

I also recommend installing the Deployment Console. It will give you more control, easier navigation, and all in one console for setting up the PXE Server and all other goodies within the DS.

I confirm that you can start with the Deployment Solution and in a next step add the Notification Server. DS manages clients and gives you the possibility to run remotly jobs ( as you explained in your post ).

I found this article which shows that the Deployment Solution needs the Notification Server as well as the Deployment Server. The Deployment Server is the one that can stand alone and not the Deployment Solution.

We call the deployment server deployment solution due to how Altiris has is catagorized on the download portion of their site. They classify the deployment server under Deployment Solution for Clients. Futhermore, it classifies the Notification server componet as the Deployment Solution for Clients Integrated Installation.
