Yes
haim96, I do believe you need a license for this piece as it is part of the Altiris Connector Solution. Get a license for that piece and you should be good.
thanks for reply..
thing is that my NS server working without license at all!
in fact we worked on it with symantec and they told as that some core components (like the NS it self) don't need license.
i checked the license config and i don't see any thing that say "I NEED LICENSE!"
in my lab test i also install the AD connector.
and it didn't ask for license. but it's looks odd to me and i'm not sure about it...
license
Easiest way to verify you don't need a license is by going to
Configuration Tab Click on the Licensing.
At the bottom of that page it will tel you which trial license you are running..
But you are correct. Double check my Server the Connector Solution does not require a license.
AD Connector is just to tie your A/D with Notificaiton Server to allow better reporting..
so if you right
this is great news for me!
now i will be abale to deploy agents to clients by OU
instead of IP based collections.
i found that IP based collection can be very tricky to manage and some time the test resultes are unpredictable.
for exmple if i use:
IP like 192.4
I get all:
192.4.x.x
x.192.4.x
x.x.192.4
this is where IP collection became complex and AD connector should resolve that.
Active Directory Integration Component
The Microsoft Active Directory Integration Component can be downloaded from the Solutions Center under Segments\Components. This component does not require a license.
