Simple answer
Yes, I know it's possible, though I can't give specifics because we've never done it. I'm pretty sure all your .nse's can be encrypted. There are a couple different ways to authenticate, though the only one I remember was standard username/password.
Use SSL Mode
Use SSL mode and then all communication is done over port 443, https.
