Duplicate name in DS console

Duplicate name in DS console

Hi,

I found there are several duplicate hostname in DS console, but they have difference IP address and MAC address behind the same hostname.

Any ideas of synchronizing the real hostname?
and I am really wondering why this happened.

Is it possible that these systems have had new systemboards or NICs installed?

What version of DS are you using? I know in DS 6.9 you can use multiple lookup keys. An example would be the serial number or asset tag information (assuming that it's populated). I've seen this issue with computers that have multiple NICS (like wireless and ethernet) as each has a different MAC Address

There is an issue if you upgrade from 6.8 SP2 or lower to DS 6.9, and the lookup key is set to UUID then you will get duplicate clients in the console. kb.altiris.com has the articles on how to fix the issue. or use one of the juice articles from "Condorman".

Yes you are right, I am using DS 6.9 and upgrade from DS 6.8.

I will refer the article u introduce me to try to solve it.
