Asset Management Opinions

We are looking at replacing our current asset/inventory software with Asset Management and maybe going to Total Management Suite. What are you honest opinions of these? Pros or Cons about the products. We are currently using CMS level 2 and DS. Any information on Help Desk and Barcode would also be helpful.
Thanks

Brutally Honest
The Helpdesk product is awesome. The flexibility it offers is, in my opinion, on par with home grown apps. Yes some of those changes are not exactly easy to do, but it's still a phenominal product.
I can't say the same about Asset however. Perhaps it's our asset process that needs reworking, but when we migrated our asset process into Altiris we've noticed the requirements for Asset management are just heavy. If we were using Contract the way it was designed it would be much better. So I'd say you're probably okay if you can fit your process into that, but some people around here can't realize it's different and they need to let go of the way were were managing software assets when we had only 50 computers.
Research it. Evaluate it. Make sure you can fit into Asset's process. Make sure you can get the resources you'll need to run it.
Asset and Barcode
Our team loves the barcode solution it is so quick and easy to enter many of the same type of machine at once. It is also handy for inventory purposes. The flexability in asset managment is also great, there are a ton of reports that it comes with and its also pretty easy to report back information or add custom information. We actually configured ours to export data from asset into another Oracle database so that our in house call tracking information has the asset info when a ticket is being created. While DS is great for imaging computers I would whole heartedly recommend getting to know Software Delivery Solution. The flexability with it along with the reporting beats DS hands down. Just my two cents.
