Barcode Manager/Barcoder Installation

Once you have Barcode manager installed on the Notification Server, you just need to have ActiveSync installed locally. Once you have ActiveSynce setup and have the barcode scanner connected with the computer, download a profile from NS to the barcode. This will install barcode manager and also setup the barcoder with the correct profile.

This solution is installed and run through NS. Once you have it installed, you need to set up ActiveSync on the PC where you'll have your scanner connected to.

Then once you have the profiles and such set up on the NS you will be able to push that along with the software to the scanner.

Its also helpful to note if you try to install this on Vista that IE must have protected mode turned off or it will not sync. This can be handled easily by adding the NS server to the list of trusted sites.

I appreciate all the help! I got everything installed now i'm just having trouble syncronizing the handeld device. For some reason it is saying my login credentials are invalid. Anyone run into that problem? Thakns again for all your responses!

I have seen the domain/username/fully qualified name work based on how AD responds. The most success i have had at different customers was username: [username, just the name]
password: [password], (use the screen keyboard as it is easier to see if the shift key is down)
server: [ip address of the altiris server]

Also make sure that is activesync is connected and done updating it.

Also have seen a problem on an MC50 with other apps loaded, just load the .net/ sql stuff and altiris barcode.

Also, also, adjust the memory size for data vs apps so that there is more space to store the DB.

I am having difficulties with getting the Owner of the assets to update when synchronizing the handheld and Altiris. I run the sync and everything updates but the "Owner" stays the same. Any suggestions or has anyone come across this?
