Problem in capturing on SVS
Submitted by Swami on 4 June, 2008 - 02:35.
Hi,
I have a freshly formatted machine, loaded with XP SP2, with temp folder on a dedicated TMP partition with free space of 2 GB.
When I’m trying to create any new VSA, then I’m getting the below error.
“Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted.”
But If I try to install the application normally (with out capture) then its getting installed properly.
If I import old VSAs, they are working properly with out any trouble. Now I can’t capture any new applications.
Could any one help in fixing this please.
Thanks,
Swami.

Ok, there may be a quick
Ok, there may be a quick fix to see if this is what is causing your problem.
Create a layer and slect to open a program that doesn't alter anything and closes straight away like C:\WINDOWS\TASKMAN.exe and wait until the layer has been created.
Disable the layer and right-click and press Edit Advanced Layer Properties.
Go under the variables tab and look at what the [TEMP] variable is set to.
If it really is where your temp directory is, then try Update Existing Layer in the File menu.
If not, then that's your problem. You will need to find a way to change it. Probably in the registry
Temp errors
Is the TMP partition a partition on the drive or on the network.
I think you put it on the network, and that causes the problem.Capturing from or to unc paths goes worng. You can test this easy by giving the tmp partition a driveletter, and you install form the driveletter.
You are able to capture apps on a machine without the tmp directory. When exporting the package to another machine, it will set the variable automatically as the tmp you created.
