Can I use 6.9 frm for 6.8sp2?

I have a new machine model that wont work with the linux automation. I have tried to create my own linux driver before without success. I was wondering, can I use the updated 6.9 frm for linux with 6.8 sp2? Or do they update the older 6.8 linux frm drivers?

RE: 6.9 FRM with 6.8 SP2

I believe this is not possible, Boot Disk Creator (BDC) will return an incompatibility message when trying to load the newer file. Post your question on forums.altiris.com and see if someone already has addressed a similar issue.

Something I've never quite understood is that DS Checks what version ofFRM you are running when you wnat to add linux in. I ran into a problem when the DS linux kernel had a problem with ACPI but a new linux kernel fixed it. DS checks to see what version you are running. Never quite understood why as it can become a big pain when you run into situations like you did.

Hope it helps (somehow)

Virtual Linux Desktop

I don’t know much about linux. But, there is some thing called virtual linux, which can run under windows. Here is the links http://www.ulteo.com/home/en/virtualdesktop?autola...

Also there is one another distro called DSL (Damn Small Linux), which can run inside windows.

Hope this info may be of use to you guys.

Swami,

The OP is talkign about using Linux in the pre-boot automation with deployment server, not runing the two at the same time.
