Help dos boot issue

Help dos boot issue

Hi

My infrastructure is composed of a WAN MPLS between 2 sites.
In one site, Ive a DS version 6.8 Build 206 + PXE Server
In the other site, the one I'm in charge, has a Remote PXE server.

Via PXE configuration utility both PXE are ready.
I have created a local boot menu Dos Managed, and redirect the shared conf to that local conf.
My local dos boot has two shares configured: One F:\\eXpress shared between both sites and I:\\images local share for our use only. The privileges have been given.
As result, when I boot a machine on PXE, I got the PXE boot menu comimg from the right PXE server but once I hit the option 160, I get
“UD PXEip@
PXE- M0F: Existing Intel PXE ROM
Operating System not found”
I tried also a Quick Disk Image on a DELL D400 pointing on the my I:\\image share and after booting on PXE, nothing happens.
Nothing has been created into that share.

I understanding that this stage is, even no job is associated, via the menu, I should be able to run DOS.

does anybody have already experience this issue?

Thanks for your help

PXE issue

It seems like the MTFTP server (Service) it is not working on the remote computer. SO, where your PXE remote server is located browse to the PXE directory and double click in pxeconfig.exe the PXE configuration tool should come up. Go to the status page and make sure that server is up to date meaning it has all PXE configurations. If this is not working still browse to the PXE server directory and select images. Select MenuOption160 and make sure it has the 0. and the .1 file.

PXE - TFTP issue

Thanks for answering.
I checked the remote PXE server status, it is up to date. In C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\PXE\Images\MenuOption160\X86PC, I have both .0 and .1 files.

Ive monitored the communication between a Client and the PXE server. Wireshark revealed :

The client has requested via TFTP :
Read Request, File: MenuOption160\X86PC\MenuOption160.0\

The remote PXE server has replied to the client:
Error code, Code: File not found, Message: File not found\000

Opcode: Error Code (5)
Error code: File not found (1)
Error message: File not found

No conclusion yet still investigating

PXE - TFTP issue

Hi all,

Ive increased the response time of my remote PXE server and now after attempting to boot on Dos image its telling me:
"PXE-E78: could not locate boot server" which means from Altiris KB : "A valid boot server reply was not received by the client."

By the way, the remote DHCP server has been configured in forced mode.

dhcp server set optionvalue 43 BINARY 06010B0807AAAA"Remote PXE MAC@"00
dhcp server set optionvalue 60 STRING PXEClient
dhcp server set optionvalue 66 STRING "Local PXE IP@"
dhcp server set optionvalue 67 STRING BStrap\X86pc\BStrap.0

PXE - TFTP issue

could it be that the PXE server has changed IP address? I have seen the issue come up when the force mode points to an invalid IP.

PXE - TFTP issue - resolved

On the pxe server, somehow a TFTP service was already running so the altiris TFTP was not able to kick on. We found it out from the logs.
Thanks altiris support.
