Unable to save changes. The Value in the field 'Cost ID' in data class "Accounting Code Details" is invalid.
Trying to edit the Asset Inventory for computers. I need to update the locations of all of the computers that are in my inventory. When I just try to update location I get the following message
Unable to save changes. The Value in the field 'Cost ID' in data class "Accounting Code Details" is invalid. This field must contain a value.
I do not have a Cost ID. I do not know what a cost ID is or where I would get it.
I guess that alone tells you how new I am to Altiris.
Could someone help me identify how I would ether work around the cost id requirement or what exactly would a cost ID be.
Thanks
Tammy

I would first verify that
I would first verify that you're not using any of the fields in the Accounting Code Details Data Class. On my install this includes the CostID that you spoke of along with a Description field. If you're not using these fields it can be unassigned for that asset type which will get rid of your error. If you log into your NS console and click on view, then configuration (in the 6.5 version of the Console) or configuration from the 6.0 console. You'll see a Resource Type folder. Inside that you'll find asset types. Then depending on the asset type (might be under asset) or IT (if its a computer). You can then uncheck the Accounting Code Details option. This would need to be done with each asset type (monitor, computer, printer etc).
This should take care of your issue.
