Quick question from newbie

Hello All. The guy assigned to deploy Altiris Asset Management for my company was unsuccessful. So they said, "Let's get the DBA to do it! He's not busy!" That's me. Anyway, how do you work with Computer Manufacturer? I set up tables for Computer Manufacturer and Computer Family and Computer Model. I can join up Model and Family and import them just fine. I see the join for Family and Manufacturer, but as Manufacturer isn't a Resource Type, I can't do a Data Source/Import Rule for Manufacturer. What gives? TIA.

Okay I'm a little confused by your question. Altiris Inventory Solution is one of the components of Asset. The Inventory Scan from this product runs on each one of your computers. One of the components of the inventory scan is a scan of the bios on the machines and most of the information you're talking about is automatically picked up and stored in the database.
I don't understand your need to create new tables as they already exist - look in the Altiris database under AEX_INV_HW_ and you'll find all of the hardware tables and probably have the informaiton you're lookin for.
Perhaps you can be more specific as to where you're trying to pull this information together - maybe include some screenshots....
ALso, please let us know what version of Asset you're running. A lot has changed between Asset 6.2 and Asset 6.5
