Gartner Magic Quadrant for PC Life Cycle Configuration Management, 2007

The latest iteration of the Gartner client management Magic Quadrant was published in December. Symantec remains in the leader's quadrant with three other vendors. Symantec attained modest upward movement in this year's quadrant, creating separation from the competition.

Forrester Total Economic Impact Study

Forrester recently released an updated Total Economic Impact Study for Altiris Total Management Suite. In this study, Forrester creates an ROI analysis for a composite company based on interviews with four Total Management Suite customers. The study illustrates the potential financial impact a customer can experience by using Total Management Suite.

Forrester's study yielded two key findings:

• The benefits of deploying Total Management Suite include: (1) reduced hardware and software ownership and management costs, (2) improved control of IT assets, (3) streamlined operational efficiency, and (4) reduced IT help desk calls.

• The ROI for the composite company is 103%, with a break-even point (payback period) of 10.2 months after deployment (based on non-discounted MSRP pricing).

Total Management Suite Wins Yphise Award

Altiris Total Management Suite was recently recognized by the independent French IT analyst firm, Yphise, as the leading change and orchestration management solution ahead of BMC and BladeLogic. Yphise states that a key differentiator for Total Management Suite is the integration of execution tools within the change management process.

The award recognizes the best software to demonstrate the two key benefits of change and orchestration management, which are: increased business agility, and increased IT reliability and robustness for business. The assessment is based on a detailed list of enterprise requirements and includes more than 140 technical or functional assessment items.
