Life (and Updating Articles) Just got Easier
Last week one of our contributors, toralf, found himself in a quandary when he edited one of his articles on Friday and realized that his action had caused it to be unpublished -- until Monday.
He fired me a note asking, "Can the approved version of an article (or tip, or download) stay published on the site until revisions to that article are reviewed and approved?"
I could see toralf's logic but I honestly didn't think we would be able to solve the problem.
I was wrong.
In a Perfect World
The code Gods have smiled upon us and We've just installed new code that does just what was asked for.
Now, when you edit an article on the Juice, the posted article (old version) remains posted while the revisions go to a moderator for review. Once the moderator has seen the edits and approves them, the updated (new version) of the article is posted to the site and the old version falls into place on the revision list.
Two Birds with One Stone
This fix solves another problem users were having when they attempted to edit their articles. The old process (which wasn't very elegant at all) required you to remember the ID of the article you were editing. Once you made edits and pressed the "submit" button the article was changed to an unpublished state and was hidden from view. Only the administrator (or you, if you were quick enough to write down the article ID) was able to access the article and make more edits.
Now, since the old version of the article remains posted after edits are made, you can go back to the article as many times as you wish and edit until your fingers are numb. Links are conveniently placed at the top of your article to show the latest revisions and allow you to add to them.
Finding Your Work
In case you didn't know there are a couple of quick ways you can find articles (and comments) you've posted:
- my account > track (tab)
- recent posts > my recent posts (tab)
- Juicemaster's blog
- Printer-friendly version
- Login or register to post comments
- 2291 reads

This Shows it...
You're as hard working as we are.
And may I state that I and many more people appreciate the work you do!
Thank You Juicemaster!
Tanks for your words that
Thanks for your words that clarify better the publishment process. Btw considering posts submitted on Juice , I wonder if exists some way to read the article/post/heads up posted after I press the button submit ?
Thanks

Editing a new submission
Riva11, good point. The ability to see (or edit) a new submission is a missing piece in our article-publishing puzzle.
Even the new functionality only allows you to see/edit an article after it has been submitted *and* approved.
It would be nice, IMO, if you could go to your profile page and see a list of everything you've submitted regardless of the workflow stage it's in.
Thanks for the feedback. We'll see what we can do.
