ManageFusion .06: Inventorying, Updating, and Monitoring Your Dell Client Machines

This self-paced lab was written using instructions and sceenshots that extend its usefulness well beyond the intended ManageFusion audience. It presents the time savings and benefits of using Dell OpenManage Client Administrator (OMCA) to manage Dell OptiPlex Desktops, Precision Workstations, and Latitude Notebooks.

This lab teaches you to take a BIOS & HW inventory, standardize BIOS settings on all your Dell computers with one policy, upgrade the BIOS, and even monitor your client computers. This lab also provides tips on tailoring your Altiris implementation to best manage your Dell hardware.

At the end of this presentation you should be able to:

• Install the OMCA DCM Agent
• Gather Hardware inventory of your Dell Clients
• Gather BIOS inventory of your Dell machines
• Monitor your Dell Client Hardware
• Tie the OMCA solutions together to leverage the functionality of each.
